Day 1: Nairobi – Naromoru
Leave Nairobi in the morning with your mountain guide, journeying through the picturesque Kikuyu countryside until you reach Naromoru, the starting point for climbing Mount Kenya, in time for lunch. Afterwards, move to the Mt. Kenya Youth Hostels for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Youth Hostels – Met Station
Set off following breakfast and head towards Naromoru Park Gate. Once registered, commence your hike through the rainforest, covering approximately 9 kilometers. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way as you make your way to Met Station (3050 meters), where you’ll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Met Station – Mckinders Camp
Leave Met Station and trek across the moorland, tracing the Teleki Valley path, pausing for a picnic lunch on the way, and reaching Mackinders Camp by early evening. Have dinner and stay overnight at the camp. The walking duration is approximately 7 hours.
Day 4: Acclimatization at Mackinders
Engage in a day of acclimatization activities. Following breakfast, embark on a hike to Two Turn at an elevation of 4500 meters. Later, return to the camp for lunch, dinner, and your overnight stay.
Day 5: Point Lenana – Old Moses
Rise early at 3:00 a.m. and begin the ascent to reach the summit at Lenana by around 6:30 a.m. for a photo opportunity. Following this, descend to Shipton Camp for a complete breakfast, and then continue downwards through Mackinders Valley, arriving at Old Moses camp by late afternoon. Have dinner and spend the night at the camp.
Day 6: Old Moses – Back to Nairobi
Following breakfast, say farewell to the twin peaks of Batian and Nelion, then descend through the rainforest covering a distance of 9 kilometers until you reach the Sirimon Gate. There, you’ll arrange transport back to Nairobi, pausing for lunch in Nanyuki along the way.
